Thanks to The Fader for introducing us to Angolan duo Tchobari, whose percussive, ass-shaking “Quem Mandou Me Nascer” is tearing through our speakers as I write this. Tchboari is Tchoboly, beatmaker and kuduro artist, and Sarissari, rapper and extra-fly dresser, and according to The Fader the duo are “already making serious waves in Angola.”
According to Wikipedia, “Kuduro (or kuduru) is a type of music and dance originally born in Angola in the 1980s. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro, which translates as ‘hard ass’, began in Luanda, Angola in the late 80s.” On “Quem Mandou Me Nascer,” Tchobari combine with kuduro with a distinctly hip-hop ideology, and the result is as danceable as it is wild.
