Britishness: post-punk band The Vaccines are no “Teenage Icons”

British indie rock/post-punk band The Vaccines found success throughout Europe last year with their debut albumWhat Did You Expect from the Vaccines? [read our review] and their catchy, boyish single “Post Break-Up Sex,” but they didn’t equal the #4 peak chart position in the U.K. anywhere else, especially the States.

Now the band have announced a sophomore effort, assertively titled The Vaccines Come of Age, for September 3. We heard lead single “No Hope,” a Strokes-indebted tune with a fair helping of attitude, back in May, and now the band have released another single.  This one’s called “Teenage Icon,” and it’s another earworm of a post-punk song with lyrics like, “I’m no teenage icon/ I’m no Frankie Avalon/ I’m nobody’s hero.”  Check it out below.
