Way back in May of 2011, almost a year ago, we posted a few songs by New York-based synth/pop-rock group Hooray for Earth — and Edie Adams gave the band a rather high score for their debut album, True Loves. However, though she played them repeatedly in our apartment, the band never clicked for me.
More recently, however, I stumbled across the second-to-last track on the album, “Bring Us Closer Together,” on Soundcloud and pressed play because I was bored. And suddenly, I wasn’t bored. ”Bring Us Closer Together” is an exciting, huge ’80s-flavored synthpop anthem that wouldn’t sound out of place on the P.A. at a sporting event or as the intro song at, say, a political rally.
The tune is catchy, memorable, and extremely fun, and I don’t understand how I heard it a dozen times before without falling for it. In any case, it’s on my playlists now, and I hope it’ll be on yours too. Listen below and pick up the album on iTunes.
