Karin Park‘s press calls her an “electro-goth queen,” but the Swede’s pulsating, danceable new single — while sporting a rather menacing name — isn’t really gothic. Sure, it’s got a shortly-after-sunset tint to it, but lines like “One day will you find me here/ Hiding behind the stars/ With a thousand loaded guns” do not a goth make. This one sounds more like depressed teens wearing all black because the love of their life broke up with them at the ripe old age of 16. But hey, it’s still a great listen. Karin Park may have a bright future — one that doesn’t need to be labeled “goth” to bring in some faux-darkness.
