Admiral Fallow lead singer Louis Abbott sounds a lot like Snow Patrol‘s Gary Lightbody, which gives the Scottish folk-rock group an “in” with fans of the widely known pop-rock group. But Admiral Fallow don’t try to fit too many syllables into their lines (yes, I’m looking at you, Mr. Lightbody), and their music is infused with a folksy twist and a cultural/political sensibility that makes their songs better fit to thoughtful adults.
I’ve been listening to Admiral Fallow for awhile, but their new single “Guest of the Government” is probably the first song I’ve heard from them that has the potential to make its mark on a much wider audience. The song has the sweeping, soaring exhilaration of a Snow Patrol song, but in a much more intimate setting with much more interesting lyrics. Listen below!
