Beach Fossils‘ bassist John Peña (a.k.a. Heavenly Beat) has already received one Song of the Day certification from us, and we threatened to give him another if he keeps making music this delectable. Well, his newest doesn’t quite merit the certification, but “Tradition” follows smoothly in the foosteps Peña’s other recent songs (see below).
“Tradition” shimmers with light like an angel playing his harp, when it fact it’s a musician synthesizing strings with the help of a computer. But your ear won’t know the difference. Balearic sensibilities and a steady indie pop beat guide the song, while Peña’s production justifies the name of Heavenly Beat. His album, Talent, is out July 24.
