Meet Padraig Whelan, the most obscure artist here, and his ballad “Off & On”

We’ve covered a lot of unknown artists in our time, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an artist we covered with less than 100 Facebook Likes (that’s 1/3 of the amount we have).  Thus we can anoint oddly-named London musician Padraig Whelan as the most obscure artist we’ve ever covered.

And despite the fact that “Off & On” didn’t come with a free MP3, which almost made me refrain from posting it, the song was a little too good to pass up.  A gentle ballad that incorporates old-fashioned country guitar, jazzy tones, and a simple ’50s aesthetic, “Off & On” is a more timid version of My Morning Jacket‘s quietest moments.  You can hear it below.
