British group Peggy Sue are releasing a covers album on July 23 entitled Peggy Sue Play the Songs of Scorpio Rising, and the first track I’ve heard from the release is this lo-fi interpretation of The Angels‘ famous 1963 hit “My Boyfriend’s Back.” It stays true to the ’60s pop sound of the original while giving the performance a bit less bubblegum and a bit more guitar.
The album will also include a cover of Ray Charles‘ “Hit the Road, Jack,” which I’m in stitches to hear. Watch the video for “My Boyfriend’s Back” below!
