A collective of musicians called the Portland Cello Project will release a CD of hip-hop covers on May 1 entitled Homage (that’s the cover art below), and Consequence of Sound recently posted their version of Kanye West + Jay-Z‘s Lex Luger-produced orchestral stadium-rap song ”H•A•M.”
The song seems more alive musically somehow, and although I miss ‘Ye and Hov’s great wordplay, those cellos are to die for. Also check out the Portland Cello Project’s cover of Kanye’s “All of the Lights” over on Soundcloud.
