British folk-rock phenoms Mumford & Sons, who have found international fame over the last few years with “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave” from their 2009 debut album Sigh No More [read our review], will release a sophomore effort called Babel on September 24. Now that’s cause for excitement. Mumford & Sons have been one of my favorite artists since the day I discovered them, and I was exceedingly happy when they got their big break.
Now, just a few minutes ago, the band premiered their new single “I Will Wait” on BBC Radio 1… and as soon as it started playing I recognized it. Why? Because the song was released under the name “Nothing Is Written” (alternately called “Untitled“) as the B-side to the band’s U.K. single for “The Cave,” and I heard it for the first time over a year ago. And now it’s the lead single from Babel, albeit re-recorded.
You can download a radio rip of the re-recorded new version, “I Will Wait,” below, and listen to the full stream on YouTube after that. Finally, at the bottom there is a Soundcloud stream of the original version, “Nothing Is Written.” Enjoy!
