Parisian avant-pop trio Tristesse Contemporaine will release their self-titled debut album on June 25. You can feast your eyes upon the dark, surrealistic clip for album cut “Hell Is Other People” below. The song is led by a choir and a jumpy bassline, and it’s definitely influenced by psych-pop.
The lyrics, however, are a different matter, both depressing and intriguing: ”Doing what we need to/ Everyone is see-through/ Stay away from evil/ Hell is other people/ Never try to leave you/ Slide away like treacle/ No-one ever keeps you/ Hate is never equal.” It’s the interplay between these words and the minimal instrumentation that makes this one magical.
