I’ve been hearing music from psych-folk-rock band (a genre sometimes named “freak folk”) Woods consistently over the last year or two, but while their sound is always original and inoffensive, it doesn’t really make me perk up my ears and try to find more material.
But the band will release their seventh album in six years (holy abundant creative juices, Batman!) on September 18, and the first single from Bend Beyond, “Cali in a Cup,” has become my favorite Woods song to date since I posted it in early July. Now the band have dropped another tune from the album, the expansive, distorted, and appropriately-titled “Size Meets the Sound.” You can hear it below.
