So evidently, world-fusion group Dead Can Dance have a large following, one that has grown immensely since they last released a studio album, their seventh, in 1996. Personally, I’d never really listened to the band before this week, though I’ve heard them name-dropped a dozen times in conversations and even more on the internet. Suffice it to say, I like them a lot.
Well, Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry have decided to reunite for another Dead Can Dance album. Over 16 years after Spiritchaser, the new one, entitled Anastasis, just dropped last week. One of the cuts is this dark, swelling piece that employs heart-tugging strings and a somewhat Eastern European feel. Stream it or download it below thanks to Best New Music.
